Selena Gomez doesn’t like birthdays. When we talk, her 28th is only days away. “I’m not really good with birthdays,” she says, waving her hand as if to shoo them away. Selena (with all due respect to her and the Allure copy desk, let’s just call her by her first name here) has left the party-planning to a handful of friends she’s been seeing during the pandemic. “I don’t know, it just feels like maybe something like 30 should be celebrated. Turning 28 is weird,” she says. In Selena’s defense, nothing about this year feels celebratory for anyone.

Singer and actress Selena Gomez is bringing a quarantine cooking show to HBO Max this summer.

Announced Tuesday, the as-yet-untitled series, starring and executive produced by Gomez, will air 10 episodes of “unapologetically authentic” cooking alongside a rotating cast of master chefs who will join remotely.

The unscripted series will highlight different food-related charities and offer Gomez an opportunity to realize her dream of being a chef. The show comes on the heels of the pop star’s latest album, January’s “Rare,” which Times critic Mikael Wood called her “most meaningful solo disc.”

“I’ve always been very vocal about my love of food,” Gomez said in a statement. “I definitely don’t have the formal training though! Like many of us, while being home I find myself cooking more and experimenting in the kitchen.”

Following the news of Timothee Chalamet’s breakup with Lily-Rose Depp, the actor has now sparked romance rumours with singer Selena Gomez.

The rumour mills started turning in Tinseltown after pictures came to the surface of the Oscar-nominated actor cozying up to the Lose You to Love Me singer.

And while fans were convinced that the lip-locked photos were of a paparazzi catching them off guard, some had to step in to burst their bubble about their speculated relationship.

The photos had actually been taken from the sets of their 2018-released film Rainy Day in New York where the two shared screens together.

“I thought Timothee Chalamet and Selena Gomez were dating… but apparently all the pics of them kissing are just from a movie they did together lol,” said one disappointed fan on Twitter.

The news comes only days after Chalamet confirmed himself to be single during an interview with British Vogue.

Gomez, on the other hand, has been all over headlines in the recent past after she openly addressed her past toxic relationship with Justin Bieber.

Selena Gomez dialed in to chat with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe on Monday (April 27) and while discussing the “At Home” playlist she created for the streaming service, Sel also spilled on why Rihanna is her favorite artist while heaping major praise on pal Taylor Swift, who she considers to be “one of the greatest songwriters.”

“All I’m going to say is from the get go, I’ve been a Rihanna fan,” Gomez said about her lifetime membership in the Navy in the interview slated to air in full at 1:00 p.m. EST on Monday. “‘SOS’ to now. So there isn’t any real moment that it isn’t gold, but ‘Love on the Brain,’ and when she performed that live, I think that’s one of the greatest songs of our time. I just think that the way she sings that song…”

When Lowe asked if RiRi is Selena’s absolute favorite, the answer was clear. “Oh, I mean, yeah. Yes. I have a whole book in there dedicated to Rihanna in my living room,” she said, though good friend Swift’s considerable skills were also on her mind. “There’s nothing really to say other than this is another song that shows her ability to take it back to the old, to also combine it with her challenging to do new things with her music,” Gomez said of Swift’s hit “Lover.” “So I think that’s as pure that- I’ll always, not even biased, just think she is one of the greatest songwriters.”

Running down some of the other acts on her list — which includes Kid Cudi, Erykah Badu, Fleetwood Mac, Julia Michaels and H.E.R.,” Gomez said her “At Home” selections reflect the time she’s had while quarantined to listen to a wide variety of music and that, without realizing it, she did realize a recurring theme emerged.
